Redwood Internet Guide
Access Logs
Redwood Internet provides the raw log files for each account, as well as many options for tracking hits, accesses, referrers,
and more. A symbolic link to your raw log file is located in your home directory named access_log. This file can
be quite large, so we do not recommend trying to view it. However, you could download it to your computer for
use with an access log program. We also offer 3 programs that give you graphical results of all your hits and an
easy to read, comprehensive breakdown of all the traffic to your website. Raw logfiles are zipped up at the end
of each month, and are saved for 1 month after that. Contact us if you need to access these past logs.
Wusage
Wusage is available to all clients. It runs every Sunday and generates web pages that
provide a graphical representation of the amount of hits you have received with a wide variety of reports and options.
You may access it for your website at:
http://www.YourDomain.com/wusage/
Wusage is run automatically each week on Sunday. It compiles results for each past week, and saves all of these
reports for future reference. This can be edited to customize the reports. If you want to add referrer stats,
contact us and we can set that up for your account.
wwwstat
wwwstat is a web site statistics program that is run each night for all accounts.
It creates a complete html page
that logs and displays the total amount of data transferred as well as the types
of access and what pages were
accessed. This data is saved in a directory called "logs" off of your www directory.
The html file is named
"usage.html". This data is summarized for the entire month, and keeps a
running total of hits that are averaged
over the month as well as daily stats. To access it go to:
http://www.YourDomain.com/logs/usage.html
Additionally, on the 1st of each month, a summary webpage will be created for the past month. It will be named the
3 letter abbrev. of the month followed by .html (i.e., For January, the file would be called Jan.html) These files
will also be located in the logs directory.
Analog
Analog is a www log file analysis program that lets you decide which reports to generate,
what time frame they cover, how many hits, and the look of the report. To use it, go to:
http://www.YourDomain.com/logs/analogform.html
Then choose the options you want and press "Produce Statistics" button at the bottom of the page.
